And this means I like to gab. Today we drove up to, and back from my parents house to work on the renovations for the day (moving in 29 days!!)
It's an hour and half drive each way... Rowan fell asleep on the way home and so I took the opportunity to gab with the hubs.
Except it ended up as me mentioning random thoughts, while he sat in silence..
Now I may not be talking about anything that exciting.. for example.. I was complaining about how the nose pads on my new glasses are sharp and when I smile, they poke me.
Perhaps I may not be enthralling and exciting to listen too... but occasionally an... "uh huh" or "that sucks" would be nice to hear.
Ya know, so that I know he's listening.
So I called him in on it.
"hey.. I know I'm just rambling but can you just pretend you care about what I am talking about?"
After all, everyday he comes home and tells me all about his day at work.... conduit.. blah blah blah.... outlet.. blah blah blah.... light fixture... blah blah blah.
I never know what the frick he's talking about, but gosh darn it, I give him a lot of "uh huh's" and "that sucks" and I expect that same fricken courtesy!
Is that to much to ask?

nope! he better pay attention! :)
My husband and I go through the same thing. He tells me all about his work, his running, etc., but when I talk about my interests or work he doesn't even respond. Recently I let him know it too. Not much has changed since then. It's the same way for my mom and dad.
Sometimes you just want your spouse to listen but I have better luck with my girlfriends.
