My friend Elissa thought I should share my bedroom since I have been having sex so much hahaha But its a mess so here's my kitchen.
Barney and I redid the kitchen like I mentioned, last year. I'm pretty proud of it... not that its super nice or anything but there's alot of our blood sweat and tears in there!
I have always been a country girl, and have a warm inviting country kitchen is important to me. So I painted the walls a warm buttery yellow and hung barn stars all over. :) I also have a chair rail on the one empty wall with a darker blue color painted underneath. So it's a warm cozy country blue and yellow space for me!
The patch on the ceiling is from a repair the hubs did, that he's still working on.
I have small closet in the kitchen with a stackable washer dryer... I love vintage looking signs so this hangs above that closet door.
Lastly I share a few pics of the counter tops.. which I love to occupy with Salmon Falls Stoneware. Its a local stoneware company and the patterns are gorgeous!

Open House - The Couch
Exciting eh? I'm sure you wanted to learn everything there is to know about my couch hahaha But lets take a closer look. (please don't stare at the crumbs on the rug, I hadn't vacuumed yet haha).
You obviously can see my lap top hanging out on my rather scratched up coffee table... When my pug was a puppy he thought the top of the brand new Pier One coffee table we'd purchased was a playground for him. His little pug nails massacred my gorgeous new table. I vow someday to strip the finish, sand it down, and restore it it to it's original glory.
Hanging on the side of the couch there is a quilt. I made that quilt.. by hand, a few years ago. When I say by hand I mean that I did not use a sewing machine at all. Every block is handed sewed, and the back was all sewn on by hand also. It was a labor of love.. but that quilt will be handed down someday to my child...to snuggle under with her future children some day.
On the side table there is a pile of yarn and a half finished afghan. That is for my little sister's birthday in February. I've been working on it for about a week or so now and I'm pretty impressed with how far along its come. I thought for sure I would struggle to finish it by Feb but I'm nearly done. :)
Now you can't see them well in this picture, but if yo scroll down to the picture of the entire living room, you will see three canvases hanging above my couch. These paintings were also done by me. I painted them specifically to match my living room, hence the reds and yellows. I love them even though they are simple. They give my home that warm cozy feeling I love. They never seem to stay straight however and i have to readjust them often. I've had them now for about 6 years... wow.. that's a long time.
Now in this picture you will again see my pile of yarn. But also my Van Gogh print. I love love love Van Gogh. I have his art hung around my home in many places. This is one of my favorites... and I think it matches my decor nicely.

Open House - Rowan's Corner
I've decided that since I have so many photos I've taken of my home, that I'd change my Sunday open house to a Daily open house.
Today's picture is of Rowan's Corner.
This is the area of our living room dedicated to toys! You can see here the bins filled to the brim as well as her new doll house, and a couple of other small things. By the end of a night all of the toys in this area will have consumed my entire living room and need to be put away. That is our before bed time ritual... and Rowan is always eager to help!

Sunday Open House
The place where a person lives is the epicenter of their life. Its where quiet moments are shared, peaceful thoughts are created, long days are ended upon comfy mattresses... meals are cooked, love is created.
A home to me shows a lot about a person. A home is filled with the things a person loves. So inspired by this thought, I have decided to create Sunday Open House.
I will share a few photos every week of my home and will tell you the story about the objects that I have placed in my home.
Today I thought I would start with a few wide angle over all views of our main living space.
This is the living room. The walls are a color called Stoneham Beige which my husband and I have been arguing over since we moved in. It obviously came with the house along with some lovely stencils that the last owner had done. She put so much work into the stencils that I just decided to keep the color. Why not, its fairly neutral and kind of warm and cozy-like. It matched our furniture also so it stayed.
Anyhow, back to the argument. My husband insists it's green. I insist its just beige. I guess we'll never know who's right.
The window looks out over the parking lot.. as we live in a townhouse not a "real home" as some not so thoughtful family members have mentioned haha. You can see where I spend my time on my laptop... where Rowan plays...and where we relax... ps.. pardon the clutter, I hadn't cleaned yet.
This the entry way to our kitchen. Our downstairs is one long space consisting of a small half bath, the aformentioned living room and our kitchen. Upstairs we have two bedrooms and a full bath... we like to call the place cozy.. or small.. what ever haha
Our sliding glass door goes out onto our deck... and overlooks the woods. Its very serene back there, and during the summer we spend a lot of time on the deck grilling and playing in a sand box. I love when the light comes shining through onto the floors... It makes it feel warm in here even though you can see the snow out the window.
And lastly here is my cute little country kitchen. Barney and I redid this kitchen about a year ago. We installed all the cabinets and the countertops by ourselves..(pat on back) It was hard work but well worth it. Its warm and inviting... and we spend alot of time in here together surrounded by the buttery yellow walls.
Do you want to share your home home with me? I challenge you to do the same... leave me a link to you blog post with pictures of your home, so I can get a picture into the world that is your life too :)
