Reason # 253 why I love my husband

Plywood Teepees for my bushes. (built by hand)

Friggin Pug - (i'm a posting fool today)

Why is it that our pug insists on eating cat shit? And the best part is that he likes to walk around as if he is guity of nothing.... like we couldn't tell what he'd been up too.

Oh and may I also add that the damn cat was caught by my hubs, on the counter, eating my dish of baklava yesterday. What kind of cat eats baklava?

We've got screwed up pets.

Winter Wonderland

Well today we got our first snow in the seacoast area of NH. It wasn't much, just a dusting, but it came down enough to put a light coat on the ground which means Rowan got to see it. She was pretty excited and kept pointing and yelling "snowing mama... see it??!!" It was pretty cute.

I hope the snow fall this year isn't as heavy as it was last year. It built up so high in front of our condo that we couldn't really see out the front window anymore. It was crazy!

Decorating for Christmas

The fabulous hubs dragged himself up into the attick today and brought down all my Christmas decorations. I've always decorated the weekend after Thanksgiving and today we upheald that tradition.

Rowan loved the boxes full of goodies. And she quickly decided that my tree skirt was most definitly a cloak. And one of my bow garlands became a hat. She cracks me up!

Reason # 208 While I love my husband

Notes taped to the front door reading: The front walk is icy, be careful baby, I love you. Boo

As promised- Rowan's inherited OCD issues

It's no big secret that my hubby has a mild case of OCD. He started meds for it a few monhts ago. He needed it. His habits were starting to drive us all insane. All = ME.

He's a totally different person now and its quite a releif.

To my woe however, its appears that my child has inherited her daddy's temperment.

She insists on wiping up any mess she makes and also has a strange habit of organizing things in ways that most 2 years olds don't do. Case in point....

I'm doomed.

Thanksgiving

We had two Thanksgivings this year. One up north and one down here with Boo's fam.

I love going home though to my parent's house. They have no cable and so we spent the night talking and playing scrable. :)

It also snowed up there, yikes!

Posts

I have so many posts in my head right now, and I haven't had a chance to write them. Mostly because I"m reading the twilight series, again lol
I even checked out the partial draft of midnight sun that Stephanie Meyers has on her website... amazing! lol

Here are the posts that i have in mind that I will try to write in the next few days. This serves as a reminder to myself.

1. Reason Number 208 why I love my hubby - on slippery walkways
2. Katie
3. On being fat and why I hate it
4. Rowan's inherited OCD issues

I heart Edward Cullen

Oh my God Oh my God Oh my God.

yeah I'm going on Tuesday or Wednesday to watch Twilight, AGAIN!.

and did I mention I love Edward Cullen?

It was a fun experience.... the funniest part were the teenage girls dressed in Twilight shirts.... they screamed like groupies seeing Edward when they finally let us into the theater. They screamed when the lights began to dim and the movie started... they screamed the first time Edward appeared, they screamed when he saved Bella from the 4 houligans, the first kiss.. you get my point.

It was hysterical.... and the funniest part? In my heart.. .with my inside voice, I was screaming too.

Reason number 178 why I love my Husband

Awwwww

I'm not sure which was cuter.

Rowan's first words upon walking in the door this afternoon = "mama... cake?" (I told her this morning I was making cake for my birthday and it would be ready when she got home from school. She can't remember to pick up her toys, but she can remember through an entire day that there will be cake)

Or boo coming through the door with her, with a huge bouquet of flowers.. which he then proceeded to apologize for because apparently 20 bucks doesn't buy what it used too ....I think they're beautiful.

A first in a long time

Tonight, I am going out. I am even going out after my bed time! I'm headed out to Portsmouth to the movies with my BFF to watch Twilight of course, and i'm so flipping excited to spend my evening drooling over Edward Cullen.

It also happens to be the first time I am going out without hubs/kid in well, hmmmm... 2 1/2 years. I'm pretty excited... although I can't help but feel guilty. That must be some sort of Mommy reaction, and I can't seem to figure out how to shut it off. My hubs is going to have to bath the kiddo and put her to bed all by himself. I'm not to worried about him... other than having issues washing Rowan's hair without getting soap in her face, he's very competant. I'm more worried about my little Rowan. Will she survive without me? I'm sure she will, but I can see her being very sad not having mommy to put her to bed.

Ahhhh well, fuck it, she'll survive. Its not like i'm ditching her every day right?

So yeah, that's my big night. Woo hoo! (for you non mom's, trust me, someday, you'll get it)

Other than that, today I'm baking myself a cake. For alas, today is the last day I shall be in my 20's. Zoik!

I know I know, your looking up at my header and thinking..."hmmmm two thirty something's?"

I know i'm not thirty yet but I wasn't about to write "One thirsty something and one twenty something." that's just to long, so I just rounded up.

Anyhow, tomorrow we're headed up north to my parents house for an early thanksgiving. My sister is a nurse and is on call often so this was our only option.
It should be fun, I love spending time with my family, and they all love Rowan. (barney and I no longer exist in her large shadow)

Anyhoodle, I'm off! Enjoy your weekend!

ps... man does my cat small awful when she poops... its just so wrong. gag.... cough cough...gag

Bullet Points - because i'm feeling lazy today

1. I love love love Britney Spears. For several reasons... she's hot. Her music is awesome (even if its all done with a computer) and because she's absolutely fucking psycho.

2. My BFF is in love with my hubby. She openly admits to it. Thankfully she says she loves me more. (that's reassuring). But for some reason it doesn't bother me. Its a bit flattering I guess. And perhaps its because, even though he is just as amazing as she knows he is, after you've lived with him for 6 years, it wears off hahaha.
Consequenty, I have finally convinced the BFF to call my single brother in law and ask him out. He's a bit older than my hubs, but he's just as attractive and has the same wonderfully endearing personality and sense of humor. Who knows, perhaps BFF will become SIL. Coool....

3. This morning Rowan was up at 5:45... she climbed into my bed and turned the TV on to watch Lilo and Stitch. Before Barney leaves for work he always fills up a sippy cup of milk for me and leaves it near my bed for when she wakes up... so that I don't have to go downstairs and get one. (I love him). Anyhow, I handed her her milk, and I could here her guzzling as I fell back asleep. I woke up to a hard sippy cup whopping me in the head. She'd been trying to hand it back to me and hand't realized I'd rolled back over. She jumped up and started rubbing my head... saying "sorry mama... sorry mama!! I bump-ed your head.. sorry mama.. shhhh its ok, its alright..... sorry mama".

It was adorable.... and that's how my day began.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm

Lazy weekend

Its been a fairly lazy weekend. Although I shouldn't really say that. Yesterday was madness.

We started the day with a cranky toddler whom was up half the night the night before. She woke up pissy and was kind enough to carry the attitude on throughout the day.

We had to get new tires put onto our truck. The old ones weren't even inspectable (accept for our super cool mechanic that will slap a sticker on it for us).

So we dropped old betty off at sears bright and early and then putz around the mall for a bit. Rowan played in the playhut there, and then it was off to my friends Elissa's for her twins bday party. (www.fulltimemumma.com).

I thought it was tough pulling a bday party together for one kiddo... try 2! God bless Elissa... i'd have drowned all my babies in the tub by now (just kidding...).

It was fun though and its always cute seeing Rowan interact with other kids.

Oh did I also mention she insisted on telling an entire room of strangers about everytime she farted??

Oh and did I also mention she monopolized the bathroom for 15 minutues while she then proceeded to poop while a very pregnant woman patiently waited in line. Poor lady.

Anyhow, after heading out of the party we went back to sears to pick up our truck. 700 dollars later supposedly it "drives so much better". Sure... whatever.

Today was more relaxed. We had church at 10, and then went to the grocery store to pick up some fruit and vegi's. Then it was nap time. (for the kid not me).

Its now 3 and she's still sleeping! Lazy child.. ahh well she must need it.

Barney and I have been snuggling on the couch watching the boob tube and eating chocolate chip cookies... if only she knew what she was missing! hahaha

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

This video is Rowan... she sang and then I got her to recite the 1st commandment.

SHe misses a lot of words but its still super cute.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

ps... if you listen really closely, you'll notice that at about 4 seconds in, my husband rips ass.

Scarfs

I got the patterns for these scarfs here http://laughingpurplegoldfish.blogspot.com/2008/10/scrappy-scarves.html

I love them and the stitch is so large they take me no time at all. I started yesterday and have made 3 scarfs so far.

The blue one is for me. The black/white version is a gift for my sister. And the slightly ugly pink/green/purple one is Rowan's (she picked out her own colors lol)

Oh and of course the last pic is Rowan... she wanted to be involved in mummy's photo shoot.

A few things

1. The other day I told Rowan it was time to get dressed for school. She looked me square in the eyes and confidently said, "um, in a minute, ok?"

Now I know she learns this crap from me.... I counted today, and I said in a minute to her 16 times. Its usually when I'm busy and she's vying for my attention.

I vow to say "in a minute" less often, and give my poor kid some time if that's what she wants.

2. I went to Church today, after a nearly 7 month hiatus. It felt awesome, and I can't wait to go back next week.

3. I never thought my daughter would inherit so much of my husband's personality. She is currently eating a bowl of fresh popped popcorn and a bag of Doritos. Not separately mind you. She's doing it in some sort of odd cheese on cracker ensemble by gingerly placing a piece of popcorn on top of a piece of small Dorita and eating them like a fancy h'orderve.
My husband likes to eat smashed up cheez-its on his mac n cheese.
They're both fucked up.

4. Sorry for not blogging much lately. I've been a crocheting maniac... post to follow with my accomplishments.

toodles!

Oh the Shame

At the end of this month, I will have turned 30 years old. Ugh... and um, can I get another ugh?

Today, I went down to the local VFW post, and I voted. But not just any vote. I voted for the very first time in my life!!! I know I know, the shame of it!

I've never been into politics however. Quite frankly politicians are slimy and evil.

However right now, is a very scary time for this country. I know alot of people sit in thier very warm little bubbles of security and are patiently awaiting the "recession" to begin. But for my family it already has.

I was laid off at the end of the summer. I have now been unemployed for over 2 months. Despite the fact that I have a degree and am very nearly finished with my MBA, I have yet to recieve a job offer. I've been on 8 interviews.

There is just so much competition right now. Its not easy to find a job.

The possibility of losing our house is no longer a shadow in the distance future, its more of a bright screaming scary red light only a few months away.

I've told myself that I just want to get through the holidays, and will then deal with this mess after all of that is over. Its scary... its uncertain... I pray every day that I find a job.

So yes, today was very important to me. I voted, I voted for a person I hope will help save this country out of the mess that Mr. Bush has so kindly put us in.

I voted for my family.... I voted for Obama.

Babysitting

Tonight Barney and I went over to his sister's house to watch her two kids while her hubby and her went to a wedding.

It was so much fun! Toby and Rowan are very close in age so they played together all night while I got to snuggle my new neice Molly who is about 2 1/2 months old. She is such a good baby and barely ever makes a peep.

We played hide and seek outside for a while, went sledding in the leaves and then the two older kids had a tubby together.

Nothing like a little fun playing with cousins.

Oh Fudge

Boo bear and I watch a lot of "Good Eats" before bed as it happens to be one almost every night just as we curl up together.

The Fudge episode was on a few days ago and it inspired me to attempt to make some. I've never made it before and it definitely seemed pretty challenging.

Today I picked up the ingredients and a candy thermometer and had at it. Surprisingly it wasn't to bad and I tasted damn good!

ps here is the recipe for those interested.
